• In 2017 Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the Environmental Security Strategy 2025. The document fixes environmental security as an integral part of the national security of the Russian Federation.
  • Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is one of the most common polymers in the world. Every year more than 70 million tons of various products are made of PET (staple fibers, textile and technical threads, bottles, films). PET production is the most environmental friendly among the production of all types of synthetic polymers, since the only by-product of the process is water.
  • When developing the project of construction, the textile grade PET plant special attention was paid to environmental issues. "Environment Impact Assessment" (EIA) and   "Justification of the dimensions and boundaries of the sanitary protection zone" project have been prepared. FAU "Glavgosexpertiza of Russia"   gave a positive conclusion on the project documentation, which also includes articles devoted to environmental issues, industrial, fire prevention and other safety issues.
  • The technologies for the production of PET and polyester staple fiber made of PET melt are well known and widely used in the world. The technologies selected for the POLYESTER PLANT IVANOVO, are adapted for the modern requirements to equipment, and they make it possible to guarantee compliance with the standards of environmental protection.
  • In the process of PET polymer formation all  the reactions will take place in a confined space (vacuum) at high temperature, without contact with the external environment. The stages of formation and finishing the fibers demand and involve   only physical-mechanical processes without generation of  any  harmful by-products.
  • There are no facilities used for housing and / or waste neutralization at the POLYESTER PLANT IVANOVO. All products are safe and will return to the production cycle for reuse.
  • To ensure high ecological compatibility of the enterprise, process gas emissions will be sent for combustion in the gas burners of  HTM (Heat Transfer Medium)  heating  furnace.
  • Industrial waste waters will be treated at own water treatment facility. When the content of pollutant in the treated waters will be reduces down to the standard values of maximum concentration limit, the waters will be drained to Vichuga local waste water treatment facilities.
  • The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the project of construction   the textile grade PET production plant in the Ivanovo region, made by the international company Mott MacDonaldin accordance with the   requirements of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the European Union and the Russian Federation,  concludes that  the identified environmental impacts of the project  are  of  low or insignificant level.
  • In 2017 PET is recognized as the most environmentally friendly of thermoplastic polymers. This conclusion was made by a group of scientists of the Moscow Aviation Institute, conducting a comparative analysis of the environmental safety of thermoplastic polymer materials. PET has the best index of environmental safety - 3.76, while in competing materials the index, and, consequently, the degree of environmental hazard is significantly higher: polyethylene (HDPE) - 5.85; polypropylene (PP) - 5.25; polyvinyl chloride (PVC) - 20.62. The assessment was carried out taking into account the overall environmental safety: raw materials, polymer production and directly polymer.
