Polyester staple fiber is a product of advanced petroleum refining. These fibers are synthetic and are used as a universal basis for the production of textiles and technical purposes goods.

Textile grade PET chips are raw material for manufacturing smooth and textured staple yarns used in the production of furniture fabrics, car upholstery fabrics, light fabrics for women's clothing, curtains and interior products, microfiber and knitwear for sports, etc.

About safety of PET, polyester fibers, threads and goods thereof

The world production of polyester fibers and yarns is much higher than that of all other fibers and yarns taken together, including natural fibers (more than 50% of total world production).


In Russia, there is a state standard GOST R 51695-2000 "Polyethylene terephthalate.General specifications. " It has been developed specially for PET and operates since 2002. A whole galaxy of scientists from the Petrov R&D Institute of Plastics worked on the development of the GOST. This institute specializes on research and development in the field of polymers, including the interests of product safety. According to the GOST under normal conditions PET which is the source for production of fiber , yarn, fabric and other finished products, is non- toxic and does not have harmful effects on the human body.


The use of PET is absolutely safe for health in such areas as food and beverage packaging, pharmaceuticals and perfumes, and medicine. The reason for that is the characteristics of PET - hygienic, resistant to microorganism attacks, does not react with drinks and food and human body. One of the most recent and authoritative studies carried out in the interests of the Russian consumer is a laboratory study of the Fraunhofer Institute (Fraunhofer IVV, https://www.fraunhofer.de). Fraunhofer is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization. They check the safety of packing. The official conclusion of the Fraunhofer Institute says that all samples of Russian PET meet the safety requirements when dealing with food of any type; the cleanliness of Russian samples corresponds to the best world analogues, they are applicable without restriction for any food products, no harmful substances were found in samples of raw materials and packaging.


In 2017, PET was recognized as the most environmentally friendly among the thermoplastic polymers. This conclusion was made by a group of scientists from the Moscow Aviation Institute, who conducted a comparative analysis of the environmental safety of thermoplastic polymer materials. The assessment was carried out taking into account the overall environmental safety: of the raw materials, polymer production and those of the polymer itself, incl. its effect on the human body. PET has the best index of environmental safety.


Along with such an important property as hypoallergenicity, textile grade polyester fibers and threads have a complex of high consumer properties. So, furniture, pillows, blankets and clothes with the content of polyester fibers as a filler are elastic, due to which these goods do not lose their original form for a long time and can easily withstand washing in the machine; perfectly keep the heat and volume, so they are especially comfortable and, accordingly, are in demand; they do not accumulate the smell, dust mites and microorganisms found in down-feather fillers.
